when i think of you, i think of suns setting and moons rising, and the absurdity of time bending to cradle it all. and if i ever forgot my own name, i’d still remember yours. and i thought that, by now, maybe you should know.

roanoke, va captured with kodak ektachrome (expiration date of ‘84) i had hoped you’d taste like morning fog, the subtle creak of old gates, damp pine needles, faith in our existence, or maybe lips that love me. but when it rains, it pours in sepia monochromic cloud-tears. and, as we waded barefoot in the bleak even now i wish i had counted my steps, been able to trace my way back. i guess i would straighten my spine and untwist my owl neck, always too caught looking backwards listening for things that cannot be heard. and i guess i would leave you everythi an unfocused triad, damaged negatives. (shot on expired 35mm lomochrome purple). i. one day you dragged me out beneath the storm clouds to sit in their shadow — you pressed close your pulse and asked if the echoes matched the ones in your wrist. ii. the next time you lingered jus yet, here i am. here i am.
